Protect Your Amazon Business From Counterfeit Sellers

Keeping your Amazon business protected from counterfeiters is one of the most important things to consider when selling on Amazon. Although the company has a strict anti-counterfeiting policy, unfortunately, not all sellers abide by these rules.

What is Amazon’s Anti-Counterfeiting Policy?

Amazon states that all products offered for sale on an Amazon business website must always be authentic. And the selling of counterfeit items is strictly prohibited. Sellers who fail to abide by their rules may result in their funds being withheld. Disposal of any inventory Amazon has in their possession. And a loss of selling privileges.

Amazon works with product manufacturers, content owners, rights holders, sellers, and vendors. To help improve how the detect counterfeit products on their website. Once an item is discovered, the suspected listing is removed. Then legal action is taken against the sellers and the suppliers.

Amazon works hard to ensure that all customers have a fair and trustworthy shopping experience. Therefore, all sellers must agree to the following terms. These rules as well as other information can be found in the Amazon seller support section.

1. Understanding that the sale of any counterfeit items on their website is prohibited
2. Sellers may not list or sell any items that are not legal for sale. That can include items that have been illegally reproduced or manufactured.
3. Sellers must show proof of authenticity for all products they sell that Amazon requests this documentation for.

How to Protect Your Seller Account

You can do several things to help protect your selling account and not end up going against Amazon’s anti-counterfeiting policy.

1. Make sure that you are selling only legal and authentic products. It is your responsibility to check out the source of the items you sell. As well as prove the authenticity of them if needed. Examples of the items that are prohibited for sale on Amazon include:
Bootleg or pirated copies of content such as DVDs
 Products illegally reproduced or replicated
Products that infringe another party’s intellectual property rights

2. Always maintain inventory records that you can provide to Amazon for reference if needed. The company may ask that you provide this  documentation. This will show the authenticity of the products sold or your authorization to list the items for sale.
3. Understand the consequences of selling products that are not authentic. If a seller attempts to sell inauthentic items, Amazon may immediately terminate their selling account. As well as any other related accounts. They may also destroy any inauthentic products they have stored in inventory.
4. Help by reporting inauthentic products. Amazon stands behind all the products they sell.  They will look into the issue and take the appropriate action if needed.

Remember that to be a successful seller on Amazon, you must first abide by all the seller’s terms. As well as the conditions for the website. Failure to do so could cause you to end up not being able to sell your products on Amazon again.
