Tips and Tricks: How To Rank Your Amazon Business

When selling through FBA, Amazon ranking is critical. Using the right keywords and ranking strategies ensures that the right people (and plenty of them) see your listings and buy your product. It can seem confusing, so Project Nine University has put together this video for you explaining the process. Below is a recap.

What Are Keywords? How Do They Help My Amazon Ranking?

Keywords are how people find your stuff on Amazon. It is that simple. When someone searches for a product, they will be matched with products with those specific keywords. There are two kinds of keywords. Major keywords and long-tail keywords. Major keywords are general keywords that cover a lot of things. A good example of a major keyword is the word “shoes.” A long-tail keyword is longer and more specific. A good example of a long-tail keyword would be the phrase “tennis shoes for running.”

Both kinds of keywords are important. Major keywords generate more traffic. While long-tail keywords have a higher click-through rate. Both are important in making more sales. Keyword research helps you use the best keywords per product. It ensures that not only can people find your products in their searches. But that they are the right people (people who actually want to buy what you have to offer).

Where Can I Find Keywords?

The best way to find good keywords is to run a keyword research tool. There are quite a few of them out there. The video link above shares three great apps that you can run to find keywords. These apps work by checking against Amazon to pull up related keywords. As well as popular keywords that are actually used on Amazon. These tools give you a good start at finding the right keywords for your products.

Something to keep in mind here is that major or short-tail keywords are going to be more expensive and more competitive. Sometimes it is a better idea to stick with multiple long-tail keywords to generate more click-through with niche customers.

How Can I Use Keywords to Make Sales and Increase Amazon Ranking?

The first thing to keep in mind is that one or two keywords is not enough. You want to use as many as possible and keep them within your budget. Make sure you set a budget and stick to it so that you maintain a healthy profit margin on your products. When you bid on keywords, get as many as you can afford. Even if that means sticking with long-tail keywords and just using a bunch of them. After you choose your keywords, take care to incorporate them into the listing as seamlessly as possible. Use them in titles and headings. As well as descriptions and bullet lists. The more fluid your listing is, the more professional and inviting it will be.
